Celebrating a Merit Award at the Fifth Chinese Teaching Skills Competition

I was delighted to receive a Merit Award at the Grand Final of the Fifth Chinese Teaching Skills Competition for Teachers in English-speaking European Countries.

Taking part in the competition was both an honour and a valuable learning experience. Throughout the event, I had the opportunity to observe many creative and inspiring lessons delivered by dedicated Chinese language teachers. Their innovative classroom activities, thoughtful lesson designs, and engaging teaching methods offered me many new ideas that I hope to apply in my own teaching practice.

The competition was not only a platform for demonstrating teaching skills, but also an important opportunity for professional exchange. Teachers openly discussed the challenges they had encountered in their classrooms and shared practical strategies for addressing them. These honest and meaningful conversations reminded me that many educators face similar difficulties, and that collaboration can help us find more effective solutions.

What impressed me most was the passion, professionalism, and commitment shown by all the participating teachers. Although we came from different schools and teaching backgrounds, we shared the same goal: to help students enjoy learning Chinese and to support them in making meaningful progress.

Receiving this award has encouraged me to continue reflecting on my teaching, exploring new ideas, and developing more creative and student-centred lessons. I am grateful to everyone who organised and contributed to this inspiring event.

I hope that Chinese language teachers across Europe can continue to learn from one another, support one another, and work together to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences for every student.
