Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival at Charing Cross Library

On 30 May 2025, OfferAbroad joined hands with Charing Cross Library to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with local families and children.

The celebration began with a story time session in the library. Together, we read the Dragon Boat Festival story “Not Square, But Round”, a fun and engaging book that helped children learn about the traditions and meaning behind the festival.

After the story, everyone took part in creative hands-on activities. Children made their own clay zongzi, shaping and decorating the traditional rice dumplings in a playful and imaginative way. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore Chinese culture through art and creativity.

We also made mugwort sachets, a traditional Dragon Boat Festival craft. Families enjoyed filling and decorating their sachets, learning about this special custom while creating something meaningful to take home.

It was a warm and joyful celebration filled with stories, creativity, and cultural discovery. A big thank you to Charing Cross Library and everyone who joined us in making this Dragon Boat Festival event so special.
